STORIES FROM SYRIA

It was five in the morning, dozens of policemen came and surrounded our neighborhood.I was asleep at that time someone removed the blanket from my face and dragged me and my two brothers out of my house and began to question. We were taken to military basement and were tortured. After that day i was not able to find my brother anymore.

This is a story from 15 year old girl Yehia and there are many more stories happening every day in Syria. The people of Syria is facing tremendous abuse and torture from their own military and they have no one to support. They lost their land, children, and habitation.they have shortage of food and have nothing to eat. They become refugees in their own soil. I call different humanitarian organizations to look in the matter seriously and provide support.

MIGRATION OF INTER-STATE LABOURERS TO KERALA

MIGRATION OF INTER-STATE LABOURERS TO KERALA

As part of the completion of  B.Ed course , I opted a project entitled "MIGRATION OF INTER-STATE LABOURERS TO KERALA :CASE-STUDY WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO PERUMBAVOOR LOCALITY ",It is a pertinent issue in the present kerala society. Especially when we take perumbavoor town and related areas, it is own , now a hub for the migrant labourers.
State witnessing large inflow of migrant labourers not only from the neighboring states of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka but also from states in East-India , North-India and North-Eastern parts of the country. There is also migrants flows to kerala from outside the country. This has helped to offset the shortage of labours caused partly due to the out-migration to other states and emigration to other countries. Higher wages for unskilled labours in the town, large opportunities for employment and shortage of local labour provided the necessary pull. As elsewhere, the migrant workers coming to kerala were pushed out of their native places because of low wages and unemployment or underemployment in primary and other sectors.
According to the National sample survey it is estimated that for 2007-2008, the number of migrants from other states in kerala is about one million. with signs of rapid growth of kerala economy and the increase in activities, particularly in infrastructure and construction sectors, the in-migrants expected to grow faster in the company or infrastructural labourers in the coming years. Apart from its importance in the economic development of the state, inter-state migration flow faces facilitates retaining the demographic balance in a state and where a good proportion of the population in the working age group have migrated out of the state.
An increasing number of migrant labourers and their domination in our domestic area is a striking reality. Before raising voice against unemployment and blaming the system and its structure. We should analyze the reasons behind the overflow of migrant labourers to kerala.

Foremost reason is that the mindset of the people. We should understand the dignity of labour and act according to this. Lack of proper skilled domestic labour can be rectified through training programmer. There are a number of training agencies for skill acquisition and  training are established under government of kerala.

The social-political and economical issues that are created by the migrant labourers in our society is very serious and all these require more innovation in researches and innovative studies in this field.
